Professional Experience

Ms. Schoenberg joined Reeves & Associates in October of 2005. She is currently an Associate in both the Federal Litigation Department and the Detention and Removal Defense Departments, at Reeves & Associates’ Corporate Headquarters in Pasadena, California.

Ms. Schoenberg pursues petitions for writs of mandamus and habeas corpus and motions for declaratory relief in federal district court to assist clients who experience unreasonable delays in obtaining immigration benefits, clients who challenge federal agencies’ actions on petitions for immigration relief and benefits, and clients who seek release from federal immigration custody. Ms. Schoenberg also represents the firm’s clients on appeal before the Administrative Appeals Office, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit

Ms. Schoenberg represents clients on applications for asylum, withholding of removal, cancellation of removal, voluntary departure, or relief under the United States Convention Against Torture, in the United States Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She also handles applications for adjustment of status, naturalization, waivers, and other associated petitions, before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Before joining Reeves & Associates, Ms. Schoenberg was an Appellate Attorney for the Federal Defenders of San Diego, Inc. As an Appellate Attorney, Ms. Schoenberg represented clients on appeal from their criminal convictions and sentences before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court, and handled numerous criminal law matters in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. She also represented indefinite detainees in federal immigration custody, who sought relief from their detention through federal petitions for writs of habeas corpus.

Education
Ms. Schoenberg obtained her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree, magna cum laude, in Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought, from Amherst College in May of 1995. She obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Georgetown University Law Center in May of 2000. During law school, Ms. Schoenberg worked in the Office of the Public Defender in San Francisco, California, and at Palmer & Dodge, L.L.P., in Boston, Massachusetts. She was a student attorney in the Georgetown Criminal Justice Clinic, served as an Articles Editor on the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law, and was a member of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal and the Georgetown Women’s Legal Alliance.

Memberships and Activities
Ms. Schoenberg was admitted to the California State Bar in May of 2001. She is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
