Professional Experience
Ms. Arias joined Reeves & Associates in November 2000. She is currently the supervising attorney of the Business and Transactional Department at Reeves & Associates. She has extensive experience with corporate immigration and employment matters, including labor certifications, nonimmigrant visas, and permanent residency options for immigrant workers.
Ms. Arias also represents individuals in deportation/removal proceedings before the Immigration Court , Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Additionally, she has extensive experience representing clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for adjustment of status, citizenship, and naturalization hearings, VAWA, and waivers for grounds of inadmissibility.
Prior to obtaining her law degree, from December 1994 to June 1997, Ms. Arias worked at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center in Los Angeles , focusing on community education and advocacy for immigrant rights.
During law school, Ms. Arias externed with the Honorable Harry Pregerson of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. She worked as a law clerk at the Civil Rights and Immigration Clinics at UC Davis School of Law, the Employment Law Center in San Francisco, and the Federal Defenders Office in Sacramento. She also worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Asian American Studies Department at the U.C. Davis.
Education
Elsie Hui Arias earned her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English from the University of California at Berkeley in May 1994, and obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of California at Davis School of Law in May 2000.
Memberships & Activities
Ms. Arias was admitted to the California State Bar in November 2000. She is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Ninth Circuits.
